Emily Warren
Water Program Officer, The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation
Emily R. Warren is the water program officer for the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation in Austin. For more than 20 years, Emily has worked on making connections between science and policy, providing the science that supports natural resource management decisions, engaging communities in caring for their watersheds, land and water conservation strategies, and sustainable use of natural resources in Texas.
Prior to joining CGMF, Emily held leadership positions at The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment, acting as principal manager for the center’s strategy and programs. She worked as policy and regulatory coordinator for the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department where she was responsible for leading the agency’s strategic direction in land conservation, water, recreation and historic site preservation. Emily has also served as program and management consultant to the United Nations Development Program’s Global Healthcare Waste Project supporting policy changes and education to reduce dioxin and mercury waste in eight countries.
Emily has been an executive committee member of the Hill Country Alliance Board, president of Colorado River Alliance Board, and strategy advisor for a human rights nonprofit working to advance civil liberties through technology.
Emily earned a Bachelor of Science in Ecology, Ethology, and Evolution, a Master of Science in Environmental Science, a Master of Public Affairs in natural resource management and environmental policy, and is working on her Ph.D. in Geography.
