Description: The Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, Duke University and the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Sciences, Inc. (CUAHSI) cohosted two topic sessions titled: Sharing and Integrating Water Data for Sustainability. These two featured 8 presentations on the Internet of Water and how different sectors (federal, regional, state, and private) are engaging with water data in their spheres.

Session 1: Sharing and Integrating Water Data for Sustainability

  • Lauren Patterson – A national framework for sharing and integrating water data for sustainability
  • Kelly Bennett – The value of value-add: When open data meets the private sector
  • Greg Gearheart – Making water data flow uphill: Transforming a state water agency to be data driven
  • Tony Willardson- WaDE: A state agency data-sharing platform supporting open data principles

 

Session 2: Sharing and Integrating Water Data for Sustainability

  • Jerad Bales – Open-source data services to support citizen monitoring
  • Levi Brekke – Enhancing private sector and citizen access to Reclamation water information
  • Tera Fong – The one watershed utility: Operating watersheds like a process plant
  • Ryan Barr (representative) – Leveraging water information in agriculture
